Samuel Paty, professor of history and geography, was murdered by stabbing and beheaded shortly after leaving his college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine. The assassin, Abdullakh Anzorov, is an 18-year-old Russian citizen of Chechen origin. Samuel Paty shows off two caricatures of Muhammad from the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo during a moral and civic education class on freedom of expression with his eighth grade students. The teacher had previously asked the students wishing not to look at these images or even to leave the classroom. This angered the father of a college girl when his daughter told him about it. The latter, as well as the militant Islamist Abdelhakim Sefrioui, then publish on various social networks videos in which they treat Samuel Paty of "thug" and "sick". His name and the address of the school where he works are disclosed on social networks. The videos thus disseminated take on a viral aspect, sparking numerous hate messages against Samuel Paty, until the commission of the assassination. In November 2020, it was established that the college girl had lied and that these videos are therefore based on a lie.
